Project Policies¶
Bristol Centre for Supercomputing (BriCS) policies
User access to BriCS services and facilities is governed by the following policies:
All users must read and agree to these policies before accessing the system.
Each project registered on the BriCS portal is assigned a Principle Investigator (PI). The PI is the owner of the project and is responsible for who can access resources allocated to that project.
Members of a project with access to a BriCS facility can connect to the facility and use compute resources allocated to the project. BriCS compute resources can be accessed through various methods, see Guides for details.
The compute resources allocated to a project can be viewed on the BriCS portal and are available to project members for the duration of the project. After a project's end date project members are no longer be able to access or use any compute resources that were previously allocated to the project.
In addition to compute resources, each project is provided with a project-specific storage area, accessible only to members of that project. This is in addition to the per-user storage allocation. See the information page on storage spaces for details on accessing and using storage on BriCS facilities.
The project storage allocated to a project is accessible to members of the project for the duration of the project. After a project's end date project members are no longer able to access or use any storage previously allocated to the project and any data remaining in the project storage area will be deleted.
Project PIs are responsible for managing data in project storage
Project storage on BriCS facilities is working storage and expires at the end date of the project. It is not backed up and is not intended for long term or archival storage of data.
Please ensure that important data is regularly backed up in another location during the project and that any data that should remain accessible to project members after the end of the project is copied off the system before the project end date.
