Access Terms and Policies

This section collects important Bristol Centre for Supercomputing (BriCS) contractual access terms and policy documents that govern the use of BriCS services and facilities, and set out your responsibilities as a user of these services, and our responsibilities as a provider of these services.

Access Terms

The below Access Terms with associated schedules govern your access to and use of BriCS systems. You will be presented with these when you first log into the user portal, and will be required to accept these before you can access any of the systems. The date on which you accept these Access Terms will be recorded, with this record used, if needed, to demonstrate your acceptance of these terms if there is a dispute.

Your attention is drawn in particular to the Liability section at the end of these Access Terms, which excludes our liability in respect of the System. Please read these Access Terms and associated schedules. By accepting these or (if earlier) accessing the BriCS systems, you will be entering into a contract with the University of Bristol on behalf of your institution or other legal entity you are working for, and you warrant that you have authority to agree to these Access Terms on behalf of that legal entity. If you do not agree to these Access Terms, we will not be able to register you or allow you to use the service. When we refer to ‘you’ in these Access Terms, this means the institution or other legal entity on behalf of which you access or use BriCS systems.

Note that we may update these Access Terms and associated schedules from time to time. You will be notified of this change the next time you connect to the user portal, and will be required to re-read and indicate your acceptance of these terms again before you can continue to use BriCS systems. The date on which you accept the updated Access Terms will be recorded, with this record used, if needed, to demonstrate your acceptance of these terms if there is a dispute.

Policies

In addition to the Access Terms, access to and usage of BriCS services and facilities is governed by the following key policies:

You will also be required to access these when you first log onto the user portal, and will be required to accept these before you can access any of the systems.

Note that we may update these policies from time to time. You will be notified of this change the next time you connect to the user portal, and will be required to re-read and indicate your acceptance of these policies again before you can continue to use BriCS systems.

The date on which you accept these policies (and any updates) will be recorded, with this record used, if needed, to demonstrate your acceptance of these policies if there is a dispute.

Operational Models

Security of BriCS systems is a shared responsibility between BriCS and the users of the systems. The following document describes the shared responsibility model used for the services:

Management of resources provided by BriCS services and facilities is steered by the following resource management model:
